Al Scharrer has impacted youth ranging from 6 – 15 years old through a variety of teaching and coaching experiences in Southeastern Wisconsin. He taught grades 5-8 while in Kenosha and then moved to Milwaukee where he discovered a passion for urban education and worked with children in third grade. He also coached middle school soccer while he was teaching in Milwaukee and had the opportunity to lead them to earn the first soccer trophy in school history when his team placed second in the division. Al then continued to develop as a leader with an opportunity to teach science at the middle school in combination with serving as the dean of students. After 13 years in the classroom and leading students, Al is passionate about the application of restorative practices and the implications of school culture and character development as root causes of delivering the academic gains our youth need to acquire in order to have the ability to make decisions about their life paths.
