Krysta DeBoerExecutive Director
In 2010, Krysta was hired by the Center for Urban Teaching as the principal of a
four-week summer school program. In January 2011, Krysta began her work as
the Director of Mentoring for CfUT, and in July 2012, she transitioned into the role
of Executive Director. In her position, Krysta assists in the development of the
undergraduate program, has an active leadership role in the mentoring of
beginning teachers and leaders, and provides leadership and support to the
overall mission and vision of the Center.
Krysta DeBoer is a graduate of Wisconsin Lutheran College, an alumna of the
Center for Urban Teaching, and holds her M.S. in Educational Leadership:
Professional Learning from Cardinal Stritch University. Prior to her work with
CfUT, Krysta served as the seventh and eighth grade reading, grammar, and
writing teacher and as the lead instructional mentor to new staff at HOPE Christian
School: Prima in Milwaukee, WI. In 2009, Krysta was named the “Academic All-
Star” of the HOPE Schools in recognition of her dedication and efforts as an
educator and instructional mentor. Her efforts to transform the culture of HOPE:
Prima can be observed in chapter nine of Samuel Casey Carter’s book On
Purpose: How Great School Cultures Form Strong Character.
