What We Do

Identify. Prepare. Support.
High-Performing Urban Teachers and Leaders

The Center for Urban Teaching (CfUT) is an independent, Christian nonprofit organization that identifies, prepares, and supports high-performing urban teachers and leaders for choice, charter, and public schools.

IDENTIFY

Early recruitment

We save school partners hundreds of hours by identifying top teaching talent as early as freshman year of college, and top leadership talent as early as their second year of teaching.

PREPARE

Immediate exposure

We build a vision for what’s possible in the classroom through CfUT’s guided immersion tours. These tours provide teacher and leader candidates with multiple opportunities to explore and network with great urban teachers and leaders in action.

Intensive training

We demystify the magic of great classrooms! Participants learn the high-performance teaching and leadership techniques and mindset that guarantee success in urban classrooms.

Practical experience

Participants get the opportunity to put theory to practice in CfUT’s Summer School Program.

SUPPORT

Job placement

CfUT connects graduates to partner schools with job openings and advises through the job selection process to help graduates decide which of the multiple job offers is the best fit.

Individualized coaching

Once you graduate, CfUT follows you from college to the classroom – providing at least two years of ongoing support through individualized coaching to ensure your continuing success and the success of your students.

Professional development

CfUT provides an opportunity for alumni around the city to get together for collaboration, training, practice, and support through monthly Professional Development, quarterly Alumni Socials, and the annual Urban Teaching and Leadership Conference.
